Kristy was born May 16, 1981, to Mansell and Becky Lusk in Lubbock, TX. She married the love of her life David Jones on February 29, 2012. Kristy loved her family more than anything.

Kristy was raised in Shallowater, where she graduated from high school in 1999. She went on to attend Texas Tech University, where she completed her Bachelors of Family and Consumer Sciences Degree. Prior to her diagnosis Kristy was near the completion of her Masters degree in curriculum and instruction while maintaining a 4.0 GPA.

Kristy began her teaching career in LISD, and for the last 14 years has been a proud Frenship Tiger. Kristy had a passion for her students and in return she was often known as the favorite among the students.

When Kristy was not teaching, she enjoyed traveling with her family. She loved the beach and lying by the pool. She was a Texas Tech super fan; she and David rarely missed a game no matter the sport. She loved to shop, Kristy’s shoe game was strong, and her purse collection grew every year at Christmas followed by the matching wallet on Valentines.

Kristy’s pride and joy in life was her daughter Lila. Kristy was a wonderful mother and she lit up every time she spoke about her.

Kristy’s memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to have known her. She is survived by her husband David Jones; daughters Lila Devenport, Emily Jones, Kate Jones and future son in law De’Maria Heath, and Grant and Megan Lewellen. Her parents Mansell and Becky Lusk and her sister Karen Caballero and husband Nick Caballero and their children Nathan and Emma.

Kristy was the first person to befriend me and make me feel apart of Heritage Middle School. She would request me to go on field trips and we would have the BEST time! I will always and forever remember her kindness and compassion. She will be greatly missed and loved.

It's with a heavy heart that I remember Kristy, who always went above and beyond to show kindness to everyone she met. My daughter landed in ICU when she was four months pregnant with her second child. Kristy reached out to me to let me know that she, her sweet mom, and the whole church were praying for us. When my daughter was released from the hospital, Kristy gave us a beautiful handmade blanket that her mom and friends at church had made for her. The blanket represented all the prayers lifted for my daughter and grandchild. Kristy shared with me how much she believed in the power of prayers. She lived a life well lived, honoring God and inspiring others. I know that her spirit continues to touch the lives of those she encountered and we will never forget her kindness.

I remember Kristy so well as I was one of her teachers. Kristy was one of those students who I loved dearly when I had her and I have continued to love her through the years. I was so proud of her accomplishments. I have been praying for her and the family through this battle and you all will remain in my prayers. 🙏🙏❤️❤️

Kristy was my honey bunny back in the day when we started Kindergarten in Mrs. Kerrs class :). We spent our young life growing up together. The last time I was back in Texas in 2017, Kristy came out to meet up with the great friends we made from the class of ‘99. Condolences to her family at this time. My deepest sympathy for family and friends. I taught with Kristy at Alderson. The good times are innumerable. She and my daughter were very close in age, and Lila and my second granddaughter are the same age, but they lived a great distance from me. She didn’t need an adoptive mother, but I needed an adopted daughter, and so it came to be! I will forever remember the crooked little smile I would get; how we collaborated on students; and talked of our families. Kristy was one of the most graceful, tender, compassionate, levelheaded, giving friends I’ve ever had. I will miss her immensely. and the world is a little emptier without her! Love and prayers to her family.
