Beverly “Bev” Brewer was born on September 7th, 1962 to Gordon and Mary Williams Suit in Marietta Georgia. Bev passed away Friday, April 1st, 2016 in Lubbock, Texas. Bev grew up in Smyrna, Georgia and left to go to Jackson State University and the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss). She graduated in 1985 with a Bachelors in Education with an emphasis on Special Education. She then taught one year in Georgia. While attending Ole Miss, she met and fell in love with a fellow student, Jerry Brewer. They were married on June 14th , 1986 in Smyrna, Georgia. Bev and her husband moved to Lubbock, Texas in 1986. Bev started teaching at the Lubbock Independent School District at J.T. Hutchinson Junior High in 1986 teaching Academic Adjustment classes for emotionally difficult children. In 1996 she went to work for the Frenship Independent School District at Frenship Middle School and continued her employment there until her passing as an English and Reading Special Education teacher. She also served as the department head for several years. Bev was a passionate, innovative and intuitive teacher. She had high expectations of her students and coached and mentored them in academics and in life to be successful after they left school. She was always the strongest advocate for the children she taught. Bev and Jerry celebrated the birth of their daughter Elizabeth in 1990. Bev was a doting, supportive and proud mother. For her, life’s purpose was bringing up Elizabeth to be a strong, confident, woman. And she succeeded. Bev was equally supportive to her husband in achieving his career goals in law enforcement. She was Jerry’s rock and deeply devoted to him. Their marriage of nearly 30 years was result of being each other’s trusted best friend. Bev was an avid reader and a huge Harry Potter fan. Bev enjoyed binge watching NCIS and Gilmore Girl episodes. She also liked to travel and come up with ways to make her home feel comfortable. Besides her husband, Jerry and their daughter, Elizabeth survivors include her sister, Carolyn Wheless and husband William Perry; three brothers, Larry Gordon Suit and wife, Kathryn, Michael Lynn Suit, and Gary Dale Suit; She was preceded in death by her parents, Gordon Lee and Mary Elizabeth Suit. Memorial contributions are welcome and the family suggests the St. Jude’s Childrens Research Hospital.
