Sharon was born on February 27, 1958 to Harold “Dan” and Shirley Jane (Jones) Vogel in McCook, NE. She was the oldest of three children. She graduated from Culbertson High School. On January 19, 1975 she married John Barger in Culbertson, NE. Sharon was known for her ease in frequent conversation with even total strangers. Throughout her life she maintained a sweet and simple demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many, who even now are being changed by her witness of constant nurturing love and faith. Her signature gift of joy, shown through her constant smiling, laughter, and joking around, will never be forgotten. Married for 41 years to her high school sweetheart, John. John and Sharon raised four dear children, Charles, Toni, Jason, and Chad in Culbertson, NE later moving to Lubbock, TX in 1985. Possessing a true servant’s heart, Sharon faithfully cared for her family and friends. Her family was her world. She thoroughly enjoyed spending precious time with her husband, children, and grandchildren. Sharon had a lifelong love for horses, she also loved music. Sharon was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 1989. She battled MS with grace by volunteering her time as a leader for the ULTRA MS support group. She also lobbied on behalf of MS. Her support group was a way for her to meet others battling the same disease, in turn she made so many friends that helped her through so many times. She was a lifelong member of the VFW, Brownie and Girl Scout Leader, and volunteered with 4-H. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Kenny Vogel. Sharon is survived by her husband, John Charles Barger of Lubbock, four children, Charles (Kristie) Barger of Slaton, Toni (Jeremy) Moore of Magnolia, TX, Chad (Stephanie) Barger, and Jason (Haley) Barger all of Lubbock, and 14 grandchildren.
