Herbert Sealy Hicks was born August 28, 1932 in Slaton, TX to Elbert and Nora Hicks and graduated from Meadow High School in 1949. He was a farmer in Gaines County, and he also owned Hicks Supply in Seminole, TX. He was awarded Farm Family of the Year in 1969 along with other accomplishments. He served on the Seminole ISD School Board for several years as well as volunteered with Gideon International. He was an active member of Bacon Heights Baptist Church.He married Willie Mae Edwards on November 7, 2005 and resided in Denver City and Ruidoso, NM before moving to Lubbock. He enjoyed playing dominoes and 42 with Willie and a close group of friends.Herbert is survived by his wife, Willie Mae, and his three sons, David and wife Celesta of Lubbock, Don of Dallas, Greg and wife Kallie of Seminole, and five daughters, Cindy Smith of Buffalo, NY, Suzanne Hicks of Horseshoe Bay, Rebecca Hicks of Lubbock, Sandra Mitchell and husband David of Denver City, and Barbara Wagner and husband Charlie, of Denver City; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.Herbert was preceded in death by his parents and sister.
