Loran was born June 17, 1927, in Cason, TX, to Loran Pitts, Sr. and Bina Weaver. They both died when he was very young. He graduated from Daingerfield High School in 1945. He then served in the Army during World War II as a paratrooper. He lived in Tulsa, Albuquerque, and New Orleans before marrying Martha Bartlett on February 24, 1968. They lived and farmed in the Meadow community. He served as a school board member and was an active member in the First Baptist Church of Meadow. Martha preceded him in death on July 19, 2013. He loved the Dallas Cowboys and attending Lady Raider basketball games. He moved to Brookdale at Shadow Hills in March of 2014. He was the head of the Resident Council at the time of his passing.He is survived by his children, Steve (Jan) Pitts of Tulsa, David Pitts of Tulsa, Carol (Rory) Stanley of Broken Arrow, Lorna Pitts of Lubbock, and LeeAnn (James) Padgett of Ropesville; grandchildren, Stuart (Sara) Pitts of Fresno CA, and Susan and Wesley Hancock, both of Lubbock. As well as honorary grandchildren, Bryce Bearden and Kelsey Fillmon of San Angelo. Others that he loved as family include Dana Bearden, Karen Black, Chad Brooks and Kyra Blankenship. Numerous nieces and nephews, his fishing buddies from Needmore Gin, and the staff at Brookdale will miss him greatly.
