Verna Murene Garrett was born on July 6, 1939, to Earl and Violet Watson Jones in Lubbock, Texas.Verna lived her entire life in Lubbock. She had a beautiful heart which was full of love for the people in her life. Verna also loved and cared for all animals. She spent her younger years sharing her special love as a homemaker, raising and caring for her six children. After the children were grown, she was able to use her creative talent as a floral designer at WD Wilkins and then as a nail technician where she developed personal relationships that lasted throughout her life. Verna’s hobbies always involved her creative abilities – painting, crafting, quilting, cake decorating and many more. She had so much talent. The lasting gifts that she bestowed on her children were to love unconditionally without judgement and an amazing ability to forgive even in the most difficult times.Verna is survived by six children; Tammy Hayden, Darla Hubble of Lubbock; Lisa and husband, Joe Lykes of Georgetown; DeeDee and husband, Jerry Noles; Keith and wife, LaRita Hughes; Danny Hughes of Lubbock; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her father, Earl Thomas Jones, and her mother, Violet Farrie Jones.Verna Murene Garrett, 78, of Lubbock, passed away on August 21, 2017.
