Madelene was born on July 3, 1943 to the late Jodie and Madeline (Pederson) Reesing in Meridian, Texas. The Reesing family moved to Stratford, Texas in 1945 and farmed wheat and milo. Madelene and her brother and sister worked the farm with their parents while growing up; she especially enjoyed driving the tractor and riding horses. Madelene attended Stratford schools and was a talented varsity girls basketball player and enjoyed playing cornet in the school band. Madelene graduated from Stratford High School in 1961.In eighth grade Madelene met the love of her life, Jerry, and they started dating soon thereafter. Jerry and Madelene were elected the school carnival King and Queen during their senior year. There must have been something to their coronation, because they were married December 4, 1961 and were married nearly 57 years. Madelene was a loving homemaker and companion for Jerry. In the early parts of their marriage they lived in various places while Jerry served in the United States Navy. After the completion of his service, the couple lived in Canyon while Jerry completed his degree at West Texas State University and the couple eventually made their home in Lubbock.Madelene loved being a wife and she loved being a mother. There was never a doubt how much she loved her family. Madelene was very proud of her family and always shared her love and pride to others. She always wanted to make sure her family was protected and was going to be okay. When Madelene became a grandmother she was overjoyed. Her three grandchildren brought great joy to her life. Even when her health failed and her memory got the best of her, her love for her family was always crystal clear. She was a kind soul who loved her family. She always had a smile on her face and a sparkle in her eyes. Madelene was strong and brave and is now victorious as she is free from sickness and pain and rejoicing in heaven. She was deeply loved and will be dearly missed. The family would like to thank Madelene’s healthcare providers, physical therapists, and the palliative care team at Covenant Hospital for their love and kindness to her. She was described by her care team as “precious, wonderful to be around” and as “so very sweet.”Survivors include her husband, Jerry LaRue Adams; son, Jerry Wayne Adams and wife Sarah; grandchildren, Daniel, Rachel, and Hannah Adams all of Lubbock; brother, Joedale Reesing and wife Donna of Brownwood; sister, Linda Gore and husband Jimmie of Petal, MS; brother-in-law, Claude Adams and wife Lauren of Fayette, AL; and numerous nieces and nephews.
