Mickey Lee Andress passed away on December 24, 2018. A time of fellowship and remembrance is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 26, 2018, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life of 82 years at 2 p.m. on Thursday, December 27, 2018, at Bacon Heights Baptist Church.
Mickey Andress was born on June 2, 1936 to Earl and Elsye Andress in McCaulley, Texas. He grew up in West Texas, working at an early age with Furr’s grocery stores until he became a teacher with Lubbock Independent School District. He married Orwinelle Lambert on December 28, 1957. He served LISD for 50 years as teacher, counselor, principal at Mackenzie Jr. High and Coronado High School then assistant to the Superintendent working with the academic decathlon program. Mickey dedicated his life to the education of students in Lubbock.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Orwinelle; children, Mike Andress and wife Wenona, Melanie Andress, Mark Andress and wife, Jeannie; sister, Jamie Blackburn; grandchildren, Jeffrey Andress and wife, Jade; Matt and Hank Fowler; Oliver, Tulley, and Charlotte Andress; great-grandchildren, Scarlett Hoker and Bruce Andress; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Elsye Andress; brother, Norman Andress; and baby sister, Judy Earl Andress.
