Xan Smyer

Xan was born in Del Rio, TX on May 3, 1944, to Wilson Carson and Doris Stephenson Carson. Soon after the family moved to Lubbock where Xan lived for the rest of her life. After high school, she married the love of her life, John Smyer and the couple raised 3 kids, Rob, Susan and Scott. Xan established a career as an office worker for Knox, Gailey, Meador, GMAC Finance, and the Parkinson’s Institute. She was an avid reader and enjoyed studying the Bible.  She had a life-long love of music and the arts. She also had a quick wit and loved to laugh.
She is survived by her beloved husband, John Smyer; their children, Dr. Rob Smyer and wife, Judy; Susan Burchett and husband, Chris; and Scott Smyer and wife, Laura; grandchildren, Andrew O’Dell and wife, Jenna; Reagan and Olivia Smyer; Carson Burchett and wife, Amy; Cameron and Caroline Burchett; and siblings, Gary Carson and wife, Judy; Sue and John Carson.
