William Robert Hutson, known to his friends and family as Bob, passed away peacefully at the age of 89. Born in Lubbock, Texas on January 21, 1935, he grew up in Acuff, Texas, where he graduated from Roosevelt High School.
Bob’s early years were spent traveling, including spending time in California and Arizona, where he discovered his passion for construction. It was in Arizona that he learned the craft that would shape the rest of his life. In 1969 on a weekend trip to Balboa Island, California he met Shirley Brammeier, the love of his life. Their courtship led him to Denver, Colorado, where he joined Shirley and her daughter Denise. It was there he furthered his knowledge of the construction industry. He and Shirley then created Hutson Industries, one of the largest drywall supply companies in Colorado.
In 1973, Bob and Shirley welcomed their daughter Lori Ann into the world, and in 1977, they returned to Lubbock, where Bob founded Bob Hutson Construction. Over the next 45 years, Bob designed and built custom homes that would leave a lasting impact on the Lubbock community, earning him a well-deserved reputation as a legend in the home-building industry.
Following Shirley’s passing in 2017, Bob retired and spent his remaining years on his daughter Lori’s ranch in the beautiful Central Texas Hill Country, surrounded by the love of his family.
He is survived by his daughter, Lori Hutson and her husband Brad; his daughter Denise Vaughan and her husband Phil; as well as three grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Bob’s legacy lives on in the many lives he touched, both through his work and the love he gave to his family and friends.
He will be dearly missed and forever remembered.
