William “Bill” Dawson Melton, a beloved, dedicated husband, an exemplary father of two, a grandfather, a brother, and an exceptional friend to many sadly passed away on June 12, 2024, in Wolfforth, Texas, at the age of 82 surrounded by his family.
Bill was born on June 25, 1941, in Wichita Falls, Texas, to John Henry and Arletta Imogene (Blackwell) Melton. Bill married his true love, Patsy Preston, in a beautiful, unforgettable ceremony in Burkburnett, Texas, creating a bond that lasted a lifetime. After marriage, Bill entered the U.S. Navy, where he proudly served for 20 years. After raising his family for many years on the east coast, Bill retired and settled down in Wolfforth, Texas. It was there that Bill set out to fulfill a second career at Brandon and Clark Electric.
William will be deeply missed by his devoted wife Patsy; his sons, Dave (Lisa) Melton and Brian (Jana) Melton; as well as his cherished grandchildren, Cody Melton, Chase (Kimberly) Melton, Cassie Melton, Brittany (Colton) Coons, Dustyn (Christina) Applegate, Nicole (Abraham) Peace, Jordyn (Caleb) Downing, and Brentyn Melton; great-grandchildren, Madilynn & (Harper-due in September) Melton, Ethan & Grayson Coons, Lucy, Molly, & William Peace, Lillie & (baby Downing due December 19th) Downing; and his siblings are, sister- JP Zacherson, brothers- Bud (Rosie) Melton & Jerry (Donna) Melton. The memories they have made will always be treasured and irreplaceable.
Along with his parents, John Henry and Arletta Imogene (Blackwell) Melton, Bill is preceded in death by grandson, Braedyn Melton and great-granddaughter, Avery Melton.
Bill’s memory will be preciously preserved by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of unwavering Christian faith, unconditional love, and selfless service will continue to live on for years to come in stories and memories passed down through generations.
