Billy was a graduate of Pep, Texas, with a graduating class of six students. He started his farming career at an early age, and his love for farming always stayed with him even after he retired.Billy married Marietta Dreadin on August 19, 1960. They settled in Pep, Texas, and had three children; two sons, Billy Don and Robby, and a daughter Melissa. Billy had a vision of turning pasture land in Plains, Texas, into farmland. So they started the long road of breaking out the pasture land, soon realizing they needed to plow deeper than their current equipment was capable of. Billy, along with the input of his cousin Roy Guetersloh, helped design a plow that is still used today. Billy and Marietta packed up the kids and belongings and moved to Plains, Texas, in 1967; with lots and lots of prayers, long hours, sweat, and a few tears, the vision was becoming a reality. Billy was a hard worker but enjoyed taking part in his children’s activities, traveling, fishing, and playing golf. When Billy retired, he and Marietta moved to Wolfforth, Texas, and was able to perfect the art of fishing and his backswing. He also enjoyed spending time with his kids, grandkids, and great-grandkids.For Billy’s entire life, he was deeply rooted in his faith; the light of the Lord has always shined brightly through Billy. For many years Billy was a faithful servant to his church as a Property Director and Elder.Billy started the next chapter of his life, marrying Ann Porter Bertoia on August 26, 2017. They enjoyed spending time with each other, lots of family and friends, celebrating holidays, birthdays and life in general. The highlights of their short-lived marriage were travelling and experiencing new places. They honey-mooned in San Juan, Puerto Rico and a Carribean Cruise including Honduras, Playa del Mexico and swimming with the Dolphins in Cozumel, Mexico. Their other love was travelling all areas of the U.S. in the motor home. In all their travels their faith prevailed. They always attended a Lutheran Church wherever they were. Every trip in the RV began with a prayer and then a “Yee Haw” from Billy with Willie Nelson belting out “On the Road Again”. Billy was in his element behind the wheel of the “Sugar Shack”.He is preceded in death by his previous wife Marietta Guetersloh; brother, Wayne Guetersloh; his parents, William C. and Martha Guetersloh; and grandson, Matthew McKinsey.Survivors include his son, Billy Don Guetersloh; grandchildren; Danielle Guetersloh and B.D.
