Wilda Wisdom was born December 2, 1932, to Lester and Verdy Swanner in Becton, TX. She married Fritz Wisdom on August 29, 1948, in New Deal, Texas. Other than a few years while Fritz served in the United States Air Force, they lived in Lubbock, Texas.
She was a stay-at-home mom for 20+ years and then enjoyed over 44 years as a real estate agent, broker, and a Realtor Institute Graduate. She and Fritz travelled the world together and after his death, she continued to travel around the globe with family and friends.
“Mawmaw”, as all the grandkids and great-grandkids affectionally called her, had a beautiful way of being a hostess. From weekly Friday night sleepovers as kids to Sunday lunch after church and every holiday gathering, always having mountains of delicious homemade food. She never missed a grandchild’s sporting event, even those out of town. She was our number one fan. We all tried to get her to admit which was her favorite, and even when she was forgetting things, she held her ground that she didn’t have a favorite grandchild. And she didn’t. She loved every family member equally and made sure we all knew we were special to her. Her love will be missed deeply.
She attended the Sunset Church of Christ for 62 years.
Wilda is survived by her children, Dennis (Denise) Wisdom, Karen (Rex) Dixon; grandchildren, Deanna (Aaron) Dawson, Daniel (Laken) Wisdom, Marshall (Peyton) Dixon, Mandy (Dustin) Odom; great-grandchildren, Emie Dawson, Will Dawson, Joy Dawson, Jake Dawson, Oliver Wisdom, Taylor Wisdom, Bane Dixon, Remington Dixon, Saelor Odom.
She is preceded in death by husband, Fritz Wisdom; sister, Agnes Swanner Edwards; parents, Lester and Verdy Swanner.
For those wishing to honor her life through a charitable donation, she supported the Children’s Home of Lubbock and the Sunset International Bible Institute.
Wilda passed from this life on November 16, 2024.
