Wanda Williams, age 89, formerly of Lubbock TX, passed away Saturday, September 7th. The celebration of life ceremony will be held at 5 pm Saturday at the Lake Ridge Chapel 6025 82nd St, Lubbock, TX 79424. A visitation will be held before the ceremony at 4 pm.

Wanda was born in 1935 to Lee and Ruth Carrel. Wanda grew up in Hale Center TX with three sisters and one brother (Martha, Joe, Pat, and Cheryl). Wanda graduated from Hale Center High School in 1952.

Wanda was married to Rayford Williams in July of 1954 in Lubbock TX. They grew their family in 1963 with the birth of their first daughter, Salah Jo Morgan then again in 1966 with their second daughter Carman Rae Shadden. They then moved to San Antonio for 8 years before returning to Lubbock where they spent the remainder of their days. Wanda hung paper for 20 years throughout the city of Lubbock. She then worked at Coldwell Banker for 5 years and lastly as a Chaplain for McLane High Plains and Sysco West Texas for 10 years.

Wanda was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend. There was not a person she met who didn’t hear the love of Jesus Christ.

She is survived by her two sisters Pat Mitchell and Cheryll Mull, her two daughters, Salah Morgan and Carman Shadden, her three grandchildren, Justin Shadden, Lindsay Shadden, and Trey Morgan as well as three great-grandchildren, Addilynn, Holly Mae, and Mazie Kay Shadden.

Memorials may be made to Lake Ridge Chapel, 6025 82nd Street, Lubbock TX 79424. Donations can be made to Lubbock Meals On Wheels and First Christian Church on Broadway.

Whether Wanda greeted you for the first time or millionth she always did so with a warm heart and opened arms. She carried a strength, passion and conviction as she spread love and song throughout her life. She also made the best quiche I ever had!

I loved Wanda so much! I met her when she came to hang my wallpaper. We formed a sweet friendship because of our mutual love of God! I’m so thankful I get to call her my friend, my sister in Christ!!

She was an inspiration to many, a Godly example, & will be missed.

Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

I never had the chance to meet Wanda but will always be thankful for the kindness, love and concern she showed for my husband and his friends on their many trips to Lubbock for falconry. She would always let them know she was praying for them, text to check on each of them, invite them over for a meal or just come over and visit or take pictures. I dont think she realizes just how much she meant to them and how sorely she will be missed. I hope she is resting in the arms of Jesus with her beloved husband and our condolences to her family for such a insurmountable loss.

To Wanda's family we are so sorry for your loss, Wanda was a special lady our trips to Lubbock will not be the same without seeing her. We only hope to meet again one fine day.
