Wanda Williams, age 89, formerly of Lubbock TX, passed away Saturday, September 7th. The celebration of life ceremony will be held at 5 pm Saturday at the Lake Ridge Chapel 6025 82nd St, Lubbock, TX 79424. A visitation will be held before the ceremony at 4 pm.
Wanda was born in 1935 to Lee and Ruth Carrel. Wanda grew up in Hale Center TX with three sisters and one brother (Martha, Joe, Pat, and Cheryl). Wanda graduated from Hale Center High School in 1952.
Wanda was married to Rayford Williams in July of 1954 in Lubbock TX. They grew their family in 1963 with the birth of their first daughter, Salah Jo Morgan then again in 1966 with their second daughter Carman Rae Shadden. They then moved to San Antonio for 8 years before returning to Lubbock where they spent the remainder of their days. Wanda hung paper for 20 years throughout the city of Lubbock. She then worked at Coldwell Banker for 5 years and lastly as a Chaplain for McLane High Plains and Sysco West Texas for 10 years.
Wanda was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend. There was not a person she met who didn’t hear the love of Jesus Christ.
She is survived by her two sisters Pat Mitchell and Cheryll Mull, her two daughters, Salah Morgan and Carman Shadden, her three grandchildren, Justin Shadden, Lindsay Shadden, and Trey Morgan as well as three great-grandchildren, Addilynn, Holly Mae, and Mazie Kay Shadden.
Memorials may be made to Lake Ridge Chapel, 6025 82nd Street, Lubbock TX 79424. Donations can be made to Lubbock Meals On Wheels and First Christian Church on Broadway.
