Wanda was born August 2, 1940, to James and Nona Harrelson Hunter in Tokio, TX. She grew up in a loving home shared with her sister Patsy, Linda, and brother Darell. She was known to be a very hard worker, a highly respected dispatcher for GTE for many years until she became co-owner of Stinson Spraying Service with her late husband, Don Stinson, whom passed in January, 1999. She attended nursing school, however, she was never able to finish and fulfill that dream. She was a servant and lived life to the fullest. To know Wanda, was to love Wanda. She married her soulmate, John Sundheimer in August 2000. They traveled and enjoyed life together, serving God daily and sharing the passion of serving in Kairos and the Emmaus community as well as loving their blended family. John passed in August 2008. Wanda was very strong, enduring much heartache through life, never dropping the amazing smile and Joy she brought to a room. She taught her family how to be strong, independent, to love unconditionally and to always rely on the Lord. She loved BIG. She expelled joy and happiness. Her greatest pride was being called “Gonga” to her grands, greatgrands and all that knew her. She loved like no other with a mantra of “Rejoice in the Lord always, and again I say Rejoice” Phil 4:4
Wanda will be remembered for many things, but some of the most significant memories will be of her tiny stature but mighty personality. Her love for people, worship, dancing, hugging and sweet kisses, to all whom knew this spunky ball of fire. She loved life, she loved her family, and she loved Jesus. She most definitely made an impact on everyone she encountered. Her memory and legacy will live on.
Wanda is survived by children, Kim (Gary) Churchwell, Penny Willis; grandchildren, Cody (Denissa) Churchwell, Blane (Kayla) Churchwell, Lexi (Nathan) Shortes, Kylen Willis; great-grandchildren, Grace Churchwell, Justice Churchwell, Hartly Churchwell, Taber Churchwell, Hudson Churchwell, Drew Shortes.
She is preceded in death by parents, James, and Nona Hunter; sister, Patsy Adams, and husbands, Don Stinson and John Sundheimer.
