Jo Couch was born on October 11, 1927 to the late C. A. and Cora Reynolds in Memphis, Texas.She graduated from Memphis High School and received her Bachelor’s degree from Texas Women’s University, Denton, Texas. On March 22, 1951 she married Bob Couch in Memphis. They lived in Andrews and Brownfield for a short time before moving to Lubbock. Jo had a full life with many interests. She taught art at Monterey High School until she retired. She was also employed as a commercial artist for companies such as Dunlaps and Maxines to name a few, and her work was regularly published in the Lubbock Avalance Journal. She was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church for thirty years before moving her membership to Lake Ridge United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Lubbock Women’s Club, the Heritage Study Club, the Knife and Fork Club, and the Museum Club. She enjoyed trips to their summer home in Tres Ritos, NM with friends. Her hobbies included shopping and decorating, however Jo’s passion in life was travel, and she did so all over the world to many countries including, Europe, Russia and China.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister, Alene Roach.
Jo is survived by her husband of 65 years, Bob Couch, two daughters, Cristi Williams and husband Monte of Richardson, and Candi Smith and husband Sam of Lubbock, five grandchildren, Daniel Williams, Rachel Reiff, Jacob Williams, Bret Shannon, and Milani Smith; a great granddaughter, Annabelle Reiff, and a niece, Barbara Armstrong of Cloudcroft, NM.
