Virgil Lawrie Bratton was born February 27, 1949, to W. A. “Poss” and Clara Rose (Thompson) Bratton in Guymon, OK. He married Sheryl Hill on April 29, 1977. Virgil grew up in Gruver, Texas, and later moved to Lubbock, Texas, and attended Texas Tech University. He spent his career working in the financial industry. He retired from City Bank in 2017.
Virgil was a collector of cars, clocks, and eagles. He loved to garden, do home improvement projects, and hang out with his beloved dog Ollie. He would tell you he hit the lottery on having good kids, but, we hit the lottery in the parent department with both our mom and dad.
Mr. Bratton is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Bratton; son, Aaron Bratton; sister, Bonnie Gross and husband Curt, and a host of nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sheryl; sisters, Georgie Parker and Shirley Castor and brother, Kenneth Bratton.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society for research at www.cancer.org or the South Plains SPCA at www.southplainsspca.org in his memory.
