The family of Virgil L. Bratton will host a gathering of family and friends from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM, Sunday, November 6, 2022, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. A service to celebrate his life of 73 years is scheduled at 10:00 AM, Monday, November 7, 2022, at Lake Ridge Chapel, followed by a graveside service at Peaceful Gardens Memorial Park Cemetery. Virgil Lawrie Bratton was born February 27, 1949, to W. A. “Poss” and Clara Rose (Thompson) Bratton in Guymon, OK. He married Sheryl Hill on April 29, 1977. Virgil grew up in Gruver, Texas, and later moved to Lubbock, Texas, and attended Texas Tech University. He spent his career working in the financial industry. He retired from City Bank in 2017.

Virgil was a collector of cars, clocks, and eagles. He loved to garden, do home improvement projects, and hang out with his beloved dog Ollie. He would tell you he hit the lottery on having good kids, but, we hit the lottery in the parent department with both our mom and dad.

Mr. Bratton is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Bratton; son, Aaron Bratton; sister, Bonnie Gross and husband Curt, and a host of nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Sheryl; sisters, Georgie Parker and Shirley Castor and brother, Kenneth Bratton.

I have so many fond memories of growing up with my cousin Virgil. He had great sense of humor but I will always remember him for his compassion and kindness. Rest in Peace Virgil. Until we meet again. Tim Barkley

Virgil was one of the sweetest men I had ever met. He joked with me about mowing the lawn every time I visited Jennifer. The teasing was great. He was so kind to me and was there when I needed a friend. I will miss him.

Prayers for all of y’all! I started kindergarten with Virgil and graduated high school with him and he was always a great friend!!! Loved his whole family!! I’m sure he will be missed terribly!! Love and hugs to all !! RIP Virgil !!!! 🙏🙏🙏🙏

I was so heartbroken to hear that Virgil had passed away. I worked with him for many years at City Bank and just thought he was the best. He would always smile that big ol smile when I walked in the door. He always made my days at City Bank that much better just by Virgil being Virgil. My heart hurts for all of you and I pray that God will give you the peace and comfort that you will need during this time of sorrow. Losing our daddy is hard, but losing one as wonderful as Virgil makes it that much harder to accept. Please know you are all in my thoughts and prayers. God Bless You All!

My Uncle Virgil was one of the kindest , sweet spirited , most genuine men I have ever had the honor of knowing . He loved our family deeply and treated everyone with dignity and respect . He was non judge mental and always wanted the best for his loved ones . Virgil will be sorely missed , but I take comfort knowing he is reunited with his loving wife Sheryl , and the rest of his family . Rest In Peace Uncle Virgil .
