Van Gerald Cook was born on November 8, 1945, to Vardaman and Josephine Cook in Amarillo, Texas. He graduated in 1964 from Tascosa High School in Amarillo, Texas. Van earned a bachelor’s degree from West Texas College and a master’s degree from the University of New Mexico. He was employed in the Traffic Engineering Department in Seattle, Washington as well as the following Texas cities of Amarillo, Beaumont, Lubbock, Midland, and retired from the city of Dallas. On March 13, 1987, Van married the love of his life, Seferina Cantu, in Lubbock, Texas.He is survived by his wife, Seferina Cook; their children, Angie Gregory and husband, Seth, Angie Klingerman, Jeremy and Chris Scholz; grandchildren: Christopher Robert II, Stevi and Kinsey Scholz; Noah, Ruth and Grace Gregory; cousins, Royce Wheeler and wife, Marty, Treva Wheeless and husband, Barry, and a host of other cousins. He is also survived by Paul Cantu and wife, Linda; Joe and Johnny Cantu and their families, sister-in-law, Socorro Hinojosa and husband Vince and their family; and numerous nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by parents, Josephine and Vardaman Cook.Memorials are suggested to Interim Hospice, 3305 101st Ste 100, Lubbock, TX 79423, c/o Rachel Foley, Foundation Accountant, Levelland Office.
