The family of Gary Bradley will host a gathering of family and friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday, September 21, 2023, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. A service to celebrate his life of 81 years is scheduled at 10:00 AM on Friday, September 22, 2023, at Monterey Church of Christ, followed by a private family graveside service at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery. Gary was born March 4, 1942, to Claude and Mildred Carmichael Bradley in Eldorado, OK. After graduation from Friona High School Gary joined the United States Marine Corps. After finishing basic training, he was sent to Okinawa for one year. He married Flora Bagwell on January 12, 1963, at First United Methodist Church in Melrose, NM. They lived in Santa Ana California for one year. During this time, he was stationed at El Toro Marine Corps Base. He served in the marines for four years and was honorably discharged in 1964. Gary moved to Lubbock, TX to attend Texas Tech University. He made a career change and worked as aircraft mechanic for the rest of his adult life. His work ethic was impeccable. He received the Charles Taylor Master Mechanic award in 2015 from the Department of Transportation Federal Aviation Administration. Gary served in the youth baseball community for 15 years. He served at Monterey Church of Christ as an Elder and Greeter for many years. He was very passionate about the church and loved his church family. Gary was very active in the community. He volunteered at Covenant Women’s and Children’s Hospital, Meals on Wheels, and UIL competitions. He had a heart for serving others and a never-ending love for his family.
Gary is survived by his wife Flora Bradley; children, Shauna (Lyle) Wilbanks, Sherie (Michael) Wittie, Nathan (Jennifer) Bradley; grandchildren, Meagan (Laramie) Fulcher, Bryson Wilbanks, Dylan Wilbanks, Faith Wittie, Kara Wittie, Brooke (John) Patterson, Tristan (Marcus) Leija, Paige (Hunter) Strickler, Blythe (Andrew) Stockton, Lauren Bradley, Heather (Aaron) Rotan, Amber Murphy; great-grandchildren, Brynlee Fulcher, Blakelee Fulcher, Kynslee Fulcher, Baylor Leija, Savannah Leija, Macie Leija, Evelyn Strickler, Jocelynn Rotan, Aaden Rotan.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Claude, and Mildred Bradley; daughter, Shelli Murphy; grandchildren, Brant Wilbanks, Lori Wittie.
