Sylvester P. “Wes” Hodapp was born the first of ten children on January 17, 1921, to George and Clara Hodapp in Harlan, IA. He married the love of his life, Marie Jensen, and they moved to Phoenix, AZ, in 1951. Wes was a US Navy Seabee, enlisting during WWII and served in the Guadalcanal Campaign and in Japan. Following his discharge in 1945, Wes worked as an auto mechanic until his retirement in 1993. He moved to Lubbock in 2000 to be with his brother, Dennis and family. He worked at the Monte Carlo Game Room, a family business, from 2002-2014. Wes was a member of Christ the King Cathedral and enjoyed playing dominos with friends from church. His passion was golf, and he enjoyed his time on the golf course with his brother, Dennis.Survivors include his four brothers, Laverne, Ralph, Ronald, and Dennis Hodapp; two sisters, Benita Woody and Mary Crushshon.He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie; his parents; two brothers, Franklin and Donald and a sister, Thelma.Wes met his final tee time on this earth on Monday, August 22, 2016. Cremation is in the care of Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers, Lubbock, Texas. Following cremation, Wes will be inurned with his wife in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
