The family of Susan Marie Minckler will celebrate her life of 71 years at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 27, 2021, at the Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. Her family will host a time of fellowship and remembrance from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, March 26, 2021, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. She went home to her Savior Monday, March 22, 2021. We invite you to view the live-streamed service on this page, sign her virtual guestbook, and download her memorial keepsake folder to your device for printing. On August 27, 1949, Susan Marie was born to Jess and Selma Pendergrass in Brownfield, Texas. She married Richard Minckler on December 18, 1967, at Muleshoe Church of Christ in Muleshoe, Texas. Susan grew up as a farm girl in Lazbuddie, Texas, and stayed a farm girl all her life as she continued to maintain the family farm inherited from her parents. She had many fond memories of growing up in a tiny wood farmhouse in the country and wearing the tires out on her bicycle on miles of grass-burr-laden roads. The family moved from Lazbuddie to Muleshoe Texas in 1960 to build a new home and for Susan to attend Muleshoe High School. This was fortunate because she soon met Richard. She enjoyed her school days, many friends, and sports. She was an excellent student even when interrupted by Richard. She graduated High School in 1963. The next few years meant more education, so she attended Commercial College of Lubbock graduating in 1967 from their Business program. Her working career included Secretary for Litton Industries of Lubbock and then as an Insurance Secretary for Lubbock Radiology. Susan enjoyed her spiritual life in Christ, taking care of and growing her family, watching basketball and football, collecting dolls, and Department 57 porcelain. She was an amazingly strong woman in every way as witnessed by all watching her battle with severe rheumatoid arthritis that began at age 29. It did not define her. Love of family and of God defined her. She lived her life with dignity and grace.Survivors include her husband, Richard Minckler; their daughter, Ashley Minckler; grandchildren, Zachary (Mikaela) Minckler, Christopher Minckler, Caroline Minckler; daughter-in-law, Jennifer Minckler. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jess and Selma Pendergrass; son, Richard Todd Minckler; and sister, Jean Pendergrass.
