Steven Dale Phillips of Lubbock, Texas went to heaven on July 4, 2024 after a long and courageous battle with illness. He was 67 years old.
He was born in 1957 in Lyons, Kansas to Charles and Patsy Phillips. He attended Bryan Adams High School and graduated from West Texas A&M University with a degree in secondary education and certification in special education. He served as curriculum director of Buckner Children’s Home, then taught high school special education for 25 years. He loved boating and fishing and was an avid fan of films and history.
Survivors include sister and brother-in-law, Judy and Joe Gulick; sister, Sharon Earls; nieces and nephews, Brian Earls, Lori Earls, Amy Gulick, and Chris Gulick; and great-niece and nephew, Cheyann Earls and Peyton Earls.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Patsy Phillips; brother-in-law, Richard Earls; maternal grandparents, James Meredith and Ethel Loftin; and paternal grandparents, Chester and Emma Phillips. He was a devoted son, loving brother, and proud uncle and great-uncle.
He will be missed by family and friends.
