It’s with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to our dear friend, Steve “Poppy” Sessums, who passed away on November 24, 2024, in Lubbock, TX, at the age of 71. Steve was born in Lubbock on March 29, 1953, and graduated from Lubbock High School. He tied the knot with his beloved wife, Robbie, on August 20, 1971, and together they raised a beautiful family and made Lubbock their home. He spent his career working as a paint contractor in construction and in machine maintenance for Copy Craft.
Known for his handyman skills, Steve was the go-to guy whenever something needed fixing. Steve’s kindness knew no bounds, always willing to lend a hand to those in need. His generosity and warm spirit touched the lives of many.
Beyond his career, Stephen found joy in coaching Little League baseball, dedicating time, guiding his sons and other kids in the community. He was dubbed “COACH” by many for his dedication to mentoring young players.
He leaves behind a loving family, including his wife, Robbie; sons, Sean Sessums, Stephen (Margaret) Sessums, and Trevor (Lauren) Sessums; grandchildren, Lance (Brittany) Messick, Joel (Elaina) Buford, Miles Buford, Landrie Sessums, Gabe Sessums, and Piper Sessums; as well as siblings, Ricky (Vicki) Sessums, Sharon (Sammy) Holt, Lisa (Carey) Deering and Martin (Cindy) Sessums; numerous nieces and nephews; and Robbie’s family, George and Estelle Jackson, Tommy, Coke and Carla.
