On May 22, 1933, Sonny was born to Frank Luther and Daisy Opal (Dodson) Rogers in Post, TX. Sonny passed from this life into the arms of His Savior peacefully after a brief illness. Upon graduating from Lubbock High School, he enlisted in the military. He married Imagene Walker and through their 26 years, they lived in Alaska for a short time while Sonny proudly served his country in the US Army. After an honorable discharge, they moved to Lubbock where he owned and operated Rogers Heating and Air for more than 25 years. Sonny was very mechanically minded and used that and other skills in his business as well as in his hobbies, which included building and maintaining race cars and boats. In 1988 re-located to Riverside California to be near his parents where he worked in the HVAC department of the Riverside School District. During this time he educated himself in writing computer code. He was a pioneer in converting the school’s HVAC and swimming pools to online operations. In 2002 he retired and returned to Lubbock. During his retirement, he continued to enjoy working on and building computers. He was also an avid reader. In recent years he became interested in restoring antique clocks and other unique clocks. Although a very quiet man, he was a gentle soul, willing to help anyone that called on him.

Survivors include his children, Jerry Rogers, David (Sonya) Rogers, Debbie (Larry) Hale, and Diane (Tom) Botello, of Lubbock; grandchildren, Heather Craig, Tiffany Hough, Brandon Rogers, David Rogers, Jr., Craig Hale, Landon Hale, Leslie Hale, Randa Rhodes, Dustin Hanna, Alyssa Botello, Trey Botello, and seventeen great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by sisters, Loyce Whitley and Donna Rodillas.
