The family of Shayne Christopher Smith will host a gathering of family and friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday, January 26, 2023, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. A service to celebrate his life of 29 years is scheduled at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 27, 2023, at Wolfforth Methodist Church (102 Donald Preston Drive).
Shayne Christopher Smith was born May 20, 1993, to Mickey and Melissa Schaeffer Smith in San Angelo, TX. As a young child, Shayne loved Legos and could build anything. He could solve a Rubik’s Cube faster than anyone! He spent 8 very active years as a Boy Scout; Shayne loved all the camping and adventures. His favorites included a 10-day backpacking trip at Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico and a trip to the Florida Seabase in the Florida Keys. He loved riding dirt bikes with his dad and younger brother. Shayne was a 2011 graduate of Frenship High School. He was always fascinated with cars and motorcycles and loved the challenge of making endless modifications to his vehicles. Shayne loved to read and listen to podcasts about all types of subjects. He had a newfound passion for cooking with his cast iron skillets. Shayne was a problem solver and was never afraid to challenge himself with something new. He had the ability to figure out how to make anything work and was always willing to help others on any projects. Shayne was a bold spirit who kept us all entertained with his engaging, funny character. He was fiercely protective of those he loved. Shayne left a mark on many and will be remembered as the confident man he has always been.
Shayne is survived by his parents, Mickey and Melissa Smith; sister, Rebecca Smith; brother, Trevor and wife Audrey Smith; nephew, Callen Smith; grandparents, Gordon Schaeffer, Clyde and Barbara Smith, and Jackie Smith; aunts and uncles, Cathy Palmer, Gordon Schaeffer, Jr., Grace Ann and David Shotwell, David and Heather Schaeffer, Jeanne Maszy, Giles and Gwen Smith, and Tonda and Glenn Haygood; along with many cousins. He is preceded in death by his grandmother, Grace Schaeffer; uncle, Tony Smith; and aunt, Sharlet Schaeffer.
