Sandra Kay Ward, a beloved teacher, mother, grandmother, and community advocate, left this world peacefully on December 15, 2024, at the age of 77. Born on June 12, 1947, in Lubbock, Texas, Sandra lived a life rich with love, service, and a passion for nurturing the minds and spirits of those around her. She devoted herself to her family and community.
Sandra earned her bachelor’s degree from Texas Tech University and spent many fulfilling years as a teacher, always going the extra mile to ensure her students thrived. Known for her nurturing spirit and smile, she devoted her time beyond the classroom as a tutor at Bacon Heights, helping children reach their educational goals. Her commitment to the youth in her community extended to her volunteer work with Team Kid, an afterschool program that instilled values and biblical teachings in local children.
Music was another passion of Sandra’s life; she was a proud member of the Bacon Heights church choir and Singing Women of West Texas, using her voice to uplift others. She also had a heart for service, working with Open Door Ministries to provide food distribution for those in need, ensuring that her efforts reached some of the most vulnerable members of her community.
Sandra was preceded in death by her husband, Ronald Ward; son, Ronald Keith Ward Jr.; parents, Elbert and Sue Crawford.
Sandra is survived by her loving daughter, Kimberly (Keith) Young, her sons, Kevin Ward, Kraig (Amy) Ward, and Kurtis (Traci) Ward. She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Cy (Hayley), Eli and Wyatt Young, Brittley, Karson, Kendall, Kinsley, and Remington Ward and caring brothers, Dwight (Cathy) and Wayne Crawford, all who will miss her deeply.
In celebration of Sandra’s life and legacy, a visitation will take place on December 18, 2024, from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. Friends, family, and all whose lives she touched are invited to gather.
A service to celebrate her life will follow on December 19, 2024, at 10:00 AM at the First Baptist Church of O’Donnell. We invite all who knew her to share in this tribute to her kindness and spirit. She will be buried, following the service, at the O’Donnell Cemetery.
May her legacy of love, compassion, and unwavering spirit continue to inspire all who had the privilege to know her.
