Sailor McLean Sharbutt was born June 30, 2011, to Justin and Summer McLean Sharbutt in Lubbock, Texas.
Sailor came into this world full of wonder, authenticity, amazement, and imagination that most would envy! He was a very inquisitive young man and enjoyed learning about all kinds of new things, which made him wise beyond his years! Sailor possessed many wonderful qualities, however, genuine kindness and heartfelt compassion for others seemed to be at his core and what drove him to live life to the fullest every single day! Sai Sai was a role model for, and deeply admired by, young and old alike. The number of people’s lives he touched in the short 11 years he was with us on this side of eternity is inconceivable. Sailor’s favorite sport was basketball, and he cherished the pickup games in the backyard with his big brother Swade. Sailor always had a love for the outdoors, and over the past several years, his passion and love for hunting and fishing had grown so much that it was just about all he ever talked about! At the young age of 8, Sailor invited Jesus to live in his heart and accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior. He took the job of spreading the word to others and leading by example very seriously.
Sailor will be missed every day by his father, Justin Sharbutt, and his wife Hillary; mother, Summer Sharbutt, and her loving boyfriend and Sailor’s buddy, Rick Bassett; siblings, Swade and Olivia Sharbutt, Brylee and Bree Burchett; paternal grandparents David and Patsy Sharbutt; maternal grandparents Charles and Jill McLean; aunts and uncles Cassie Lyon and husband John, Tina McCutchin and husband Brent, and Amanda Spearman and husband Jordan; cousins Cooper Lyon and Wesson Lyon, Maddy, Ella, and Luke McCutchin, Tex and Davy Spearman.
Sailor, 11 years old, went to heaven on Friday, January 13, 2023, from injuries sustained in a tragic ATV accident. His passing was unexpected, and we will dearly miss our little angel until we reunite in heaven. Being the giving and selfless person he was, Sailor gave the gift of life to two other children through organ donations. Not only did he get his wings, but he also got a superhero cape! He was a beloved son, grandson, brother, cousin, and friend to many.
