Sabin Glenn Hendrickson passed from this life on Tuesday, August 23, 2016. We will gather for fellowship and remembrance from 6:00 pm-8:00 pm Thursday, August 25, 2016, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life of 87 years on Friday, August 26, 2016, at 2:00 pm at Monterey Baptist Church. A tribute of Sabin's life may be found at www.memorialdesigners.net, where you may leave memories and expressions of sympathy for his family.Sabin was born on July 3, 1929, to the late Barney and Sabina Hendrickson in Stillwater, OK. On May 23, 1948, he married Earlene Smalley at the First Baptist Church, Littlefield, Texas, after Earlene proposed. He graduated from McMurry University with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in 1952. Sabin signed with the New York Giants and was attending training camp before joining the United States Air Force. After his honorable discharge, Sabin worked for Travelers Insurance Company for 34 years retiring as supervisor for the claims department in 1991. He was an active member of Monterey Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and taught Sunday school. He enjoyed travelling after retirement and was privileged to be inducted in the Athletic Hall of Honor at McMurry University. Along with his parents, Sabin was preceded in death by a sister, Cynthia.Sabin is survived by his loving spouse of 68 years, Earlene J Hendrickson; two sons, Greg (Cindi) Hendrickson of Kingwood, and Jeff (Valette) Hendrickson of Hurst, a daughter, Susan Williams of Lubbock; grandchildren, Jacob, Erika (Harold), Cindy, Adrianne, Tiffany ( Steve), Gentrea, and Kelby; a step-grandson, Alex; and 5 great- grandchildren. Memorials are suggested to the Monterey Baptist Church Building Fund, 3601 50th Street, Lubbock, Texas, 79413 or the Alzheimer's Association, P.O. 96011, Washington, DC 20090, alz.org.
