Ruth Elizabeth Savage passed away Sunday, August 25, 2019. Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life of 97 years at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 31, 2019 at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. This service will be followed by a reception at the same location.Ruth was born on July 8, 1922 to Irion and Ola (Lee) Hanks in Wichita Falls, TX. She was born into a Christian home, her father serving as a deacon and her mother, the church pianist. She accepted Christ at the young age of 8 during her family’s devotion time. She received the Holy Spirit, was baptized in water, and received a call to be a minister’s wife at age 18. She married the love of her life, Paul Wendell Savage on September 1, 1940. They began full-time ministry in 1941, sharing with others through music, teaching and speaking in the states and overseas.She attended Junior College in Seminole, OK when her children were in high school. She then went on to receive her BS in Education from East Central State College in Ada, OK and taught for one year in the public-school system. After pastoring at Highland Assembly of God, Albuquerque, NM for 13 years, she became the District Women’s Ministries President, serving for 12 years. Continuing her studies, she enrolled in continuing education at Southwestern A/G College and was placed in the Master’s Program of the Theological Seminary. In 1987, she received her ministerial license and was ordained in 1989. Ruth moved to Lubbock in 2003 and was a member of Trinity Church and the Prime Timers. Ruth served the Lord and those around her for many years everywhere she lived.Ruth is survived by her son, David W. Savage and wife, Lynda of Lubbock; daughter, Beverly Wall and husband, Mike of Phoenix, AZ; grandchildren, Michael David Wall and wife, Susan of Tulsa, OK; David Michael Savage and wife, Brooke of Dallas; Aimee Derry and husband, Phil of Daphne, AL; Stephanie Donley and husband, Ben of Lubbock, and Christa Wagner and husband Adam of Las Vegas, NV; sixteen great-grandchildren: Levi, Leah, Trinity, Judah, Gideon, Josiah, Jeremiah and Isaiah Derry, Luke, Ryan Avery, and Noah Savage, Hannah, Makayla and Joshua Wall, Jonathan Cade Savage and Elijah Smothers.She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, and husband, Paul Savage.
