Born in September 1931 in Dawson County, Rusty moved with parents Miles E., Iva J., and his brothers and sisters to Lubbock County where he lived the remainder of his life. He married Rosene Biffle on February 14th, 1958 in Santa Fe, NM.
For more than sixty years from his early teens until retirement, Rusty was a carpenter, cabinet maker, home remodeler, and custom home builder. He framed houses with his brother Harold, moved into building homes with several partners, and then started his own custom home business in late 1970’s, a business that he and Rosene ran together. During his long career Rusty and his crew built and remodeled some of the most prestigious homes in Lubbock.
Rusty enjoyed travelling, loved to fish, and built a home at Hubbard Creek Lake that he enjoyed with his family and friends for more than 40 years.
Rusty was known for his quick wit, funny insights, was honest to a fault, and ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
Rusty’s pride and joy were his wife, children, grandsons, and his work. He was a member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Lubbock
Left to cherish his memory and legacy of honesty, integrity, and work ethic are his wife of 59 years Rosene, his children Rhonda of Raleigh, NC, his son Rob and wife Leslie of Lubbock, his grandsons Ross of Cedar Rapids IA, and Mitchell of San Antonio, his surviving brothers Miles of Kearney NE, Truitt of Granbury TX, his sister Margaret Fears of Sun City, AZ, and many,nieces and nephews. Preceding him death were his parents, brothers David, Delbert, Joe, Harold, Jeff, and sister Cora Lee.
