It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Russell Carl Moore – husband, father, grandfather, and friend to many. Born on January 10, 1959, in Tulia, TX, to Eddie Carl and Bernice Agnis (Berner) Moore. Russell grew up mostly in Lubbock and graduated from Coronado High School. At just fifteen, he met the love of his life, Donna Louise Parks. Three years later, they were married. Together, they raised two boys, John and Cory, and two girls, Christel and Aubrey.
Russell was a self-made man, and he made a successful career out of fine woodworking and remodeling. As his business card said, he was a “freelance craftsman.” His work ranged from simple shelving to custom gun cabinets to cliff-side homes in Hawaii. There was profound artistry in his finer works. He loved his work, and it showed.
Russell had a deep love for the ocean, and he was a proud American. He had wanted to be a marine biologist and had wanted to join the army. He was funny and could make anyone laugh; but if you crossed someone he loved, you would find out how serious he could be. He loved fully, worked hard, and laughed easily. Russell was genuine in his relationships, and you always knew where you stood with him.
Anyone who knew Russell knew that he was proud of his family, especially his wife, Donna, to whom he devoted every moment of his life. Donna survives Russell along with their children: John and his wife, Samantha; Aubrey and her husband, David; and Cory. Russell is survived by his three sisters, Anita, Alison, and Michelle. Russell enjoyed every moment he could with his surviving grandchildren: Carson, Sawyer, Eden, Asher, Colter, and Lionel. Lastly, Russell leaves behind countless friends and family that both touched his world and whom he touched – he spoke of all those memories often and with joy.
Russell was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie Moore and Bernice Shuping; a daughter, Christel Moore; a nephew, Joseph Hubbard; and a nephew, Jack Parks, among others.
Russell passed on Thursday, October 10, 2024. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He will be dearly missed.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to either the “Jack Parks Memorial Scholarship Fund” (c/o Wellington State Bank, PO Box 310, Paducah, Texas 79248) or to “Stop Soldier Suicide” (https://stopsoldiersuicide.org/) in memory of Russell.
