Ruben R. Calderon was born to Jose and Lucinda on October 12, 1954, in Kendalia, Tx. Ruben had 5 brothers and 3 sisters and moved with his father to Hobbs at a very young age. He attended Southern Heights and Houston Jr. High and later received his GED. Ruben met Esperanza at a young age in which they married in 1986. They then chose to grow and raise a family in which they forever adored. Ruben had a love for cars which led to his career in the automotive industry. He began his career at Hobbs Body Works in 1974 and retired in 2012.
Ruben was a kindhearted man. Always there for anyone who needed to talk or even a favor. Ruben enjoyed spending the holidays with family. He loved home cooked meals. Ruben enjoyed the football season. His football team was the Saints. He also enjoyed barbecues with family. Oh, and we can’t forget how much he loved his cup of coffee. He also enjoyed his sweets to go with it. He liked honey buns and little Debbie’s. Ruben really enjoyed going to the casino. He went until he was not able to due to his health…but that didn’t stop him. He had casino games on his tablet that he enjoyed at home. Ruben had such a sense of humor. We all enjoyed all his stories and funny jokes. I can remember them like yesterday. Most importantly, Ruben was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend. He will be missed so much!
