The family of Royce S. Ivory will celebrate his life of 91 years at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 1, 2021, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. He will be entombed in the Garden of James at Resthaven at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 1, 2021, prior to the memorial service. D. Ivory. He graduated from Mexia High School at the age of 15 after being moved forward 2 school years. He attended Texas Tech University.He joined the Texas Army National Guard and retired 41 years later as a Colonel. He was promoted to Brigadier General (Brevet) by Governor W. P. Clements. He served in many active-duty tours and was awarded numerous military honors, including the Texas Distinguished Service Medal.He married Maureen Roy and 24 years later she passed away. To this union, one daughter, Karla was born.In 1979 he married Sharyn Moore, and together they ministered, sang, enjoyed their family, and traveled the world.He was a wholesale account executive for General Foods Corporation and through numerous mergers and acquisitions, retired from PepsiCo. For several years, he was a licensed realtor and sold residential and commercial properties. In his early years, he was an excellent golfer and private pilot. He enjoyed traveling, reading, playing games with the family and ballroom dancing on roller skates. Royce was an active member of Raintree Christian Church for 38 years where he served as an elder and teacher. He and Sharyn led one of three stewardship campaigns allowing the church to build a new sanctuary, classrooms and a family life center, debt free. In 2017, he moved his membership to Monterey Church of Christ and was a member of the Growing Disciples Bible Class. He sang bass in the Lighthouse 5 and New Harmony Gospel Quartet, traveling the country spreading the gospel. He volunteered at Covenant Health in the Spiritual Care Department for 15 years covering the Heart Center and Specialty Hospital. He served on the South Plains Red Cross Board and the Lubbock Appraisal District Board.He was blessed with two grandsons, Dr. Shane Claborn and wife, Cortney, Dr. Rodney Claborn and wife, Kara; and four great grandsons, Connor, Colton, Rohan, and Max.He is survived by his wife; daughter Karla and husband, Hershel; grandsons and great grandsons; and sister, Faye. He has one aunt and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. One brother and his parents preceded him in death.
