Rosalva Vargas

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Rosalva Vargas, known to many as Rose. Rose, a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother was born on August 19, 1958, in Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico, and it was there that she married Marcelo Vargas, Sr. on February 23, 1977. After moving to Lubbock, Rose devoted thirty years to her work at Prater’s Foods. Her favorite pastimes were spending time with her sisters at casinos and watching the Dallas Cowboys. She was devoted to her family with unconditional love and selflessness. Her dedication and hard work left an unending mark on all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Rose leaves behind a legacy of love and strength in her children, Marcelo Vargas, Jr., Martha Vargas-Herrera and husband Martin, Alma Vargas, and Ricardo Vargas; grandchildren, Aaron Vargas, Adrian Vargas, Devin Lopez, Alliyana Herrera, Nadiah Herrera, Johnny Maldonado, Isaiah Maldonado, Cameron Vargas, Jazlynn Vargas, Aryana Vargas, Evalani Vargas, Alaiyah Rose Maldonado, great-grandchildren, Malani Vargas, and siblings, Elva Vasquez Arzabala, Antonio Vasquez, Bertha Alicia Vasquez Leon, Oralia Vasquez Diaz, María del Carmen Vasquez Lopez, María Elena Vasquez Gonzalez, Jesus Nicolás Vasquez.

Rose was preceded in death by her husband, Marcelo Vargas, Sr.; parents, Antonio and Alicia (Perez) Vasquez; and sibling Consuelo Vasquez Perez.
