Ronnie Lee Gerron was born December 14, 1948, to Howell and Margaret (Bowers) Gerron in Princeton, TX. He was raised in Lubbock and attended Monterey High School where he excelled as a linebacker on the football team. Soon after graduation, he entered the US Marine Corps and served in the Vietnam War where he was awarded the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. Returning to the States, he resumed life as a civilian, attended Texas Tech, got married, had kids, and worked 30 years for Southwestern Bell (AT&T) as a lineman. Over his lifetime he earned a reputation for being hard-working, honest, and humble. He is known by his family as a protector, provider, and strong pillar. The last many years of his life were spent battling illness, including a cancer diagnosis in 2022, but he stoically fought through relentless pain and finally got his victory in heaven on May 19, 2023.
Mr. Gerron is survived by his daughter, Allison Gerron Scott & husband Micheal; daughter-in-law, Candice Gerron; granddaughter, Megan Scott Wimpee & husband Eric; grandsons, Brady Scott, Ty Gerron, and Jaxson Gerron; brother, Jerry Gerron; niece, Gina Gerron Irving & husband Michael; nephew, Jordan Gerron & wife Sam; Great-nephews, Joseph Delgado, Eli Irving & Cohen Gerron; and a Great-niece, Mariah Fields.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister-in-law, Janay Gerron; and a son, Travis Walker “TW” Gerron who died tragically in a motorcycle accident in 2008.
Mr. Gerron’s family suggests memorial donations to The Gerron Tuition Fund at any Peoples Bank Lubbock location.
A service to celebrate the life of Ronnie Lee Gerron is scheduled at 10:00 AM on Monday, May 29, 2023, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers, followed by a time of fellowship with family and friends.
