Veronica (Roni) Azada Buenaventura died peacefully on Thursday, June 16, 2016. Roni was born on July 17, 1955 to Teofilo and Jovita Ramos Azada in Manila, Philippines. On April 14, 1975, Roni married the love of her life, Lionel Buenaventura in Manila, Philippines. Roni had a kind and joyful heart, a contagious laugh, and a smile that could light up a room. She enjoyed world travel, Zumba dancing, and striking up a good conversation. She earned Bachelor’s degrees in economics and computer science and worked in financial services after raising her four children. She served as 2005 President of the Philippine-American Chamber of Commerce of Georgia Inc. while living in Atlanta and volunteered her time at Covenant Hospital and Women’s Protective Services after relocating to Lubbock. Survivors include her husband, Lionel Buenaventura; their children, Kyla Koontz and husband, Dan, Maya Buenaventura and husband, Tyler Johnson, Michael, and Marc Buenaventura; three granddaughters, Emily, Ashley, and Claire Koontz; mother, Jovita Ramos Azada; siblings, Tita Ochoa and husband, Eddie, JoJo Saplala and husband, Lito, Chito Haser and husband, Steve, Coco Azada and husband, Tom Stevens, Jing Manalastas and husband, Junie, and Bong Azada and wife, Bessie. She was preceded in death by her father, Teofilo Taqueban Azada.
