Obituary

Ronald Mike Sitton passed away on Wednesday, February 2, 2022. He was born in Kermit, Texas, on May 3, 1947.  He is preceded in death by his parents, Ester Rae and Frank L. “Pete” Sitton.

He is survived by his beloved children, Dusti Ann White (Tim), Michael Pete Sitton (Leslie), and Richard Cox Sitton, and two granddaughters, Madison & Emma White. He is also survived by his brothers, Frank Sitton (Windy) and Keith Sitton; a nephew, Johnny Sitton, and his children, Anne Marie and Pete Sitton.

Ron attended Littlefield High School where he was voted “Mr. Littlefield High School” and graduated in 1965.  He attended McMurry College on a full-ride football scholarship where he graduated with a business degree in 1969.  Shortly after graduation, he was drafted into the Army and fought in the Vietnam War.  He was awarded the coveted “Bronze Star” for his outstanding service during the war.

After his service, he moved to the Dallas area and worked for Moore Business Forms as a salesman. In 1972, he moved to Lubbock and was the Vice President of Sitton Drilling Company. After the sale of Sitton Drilling Company, he started Midacox Oil Company.

Ron loved Texas Tech Athletics and was a member of the Red Raider Club for over 40 years. He loved playing tennis, snow skiing, attending sporting events with his family and friends, coaching youth basketball, and was very generous with helping and feeding young people.

His family will host a time of fellowship and remembrance from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Monday, February 7, 2022, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. We invite you to sign his virtual guestbook and view his Life Tribute, a video of photographs set to his favorite music.
