Robert Villalpando Jr. went to be with our heavenly Father on September 26, 2023, at the age of 55. He was born in Brownfield, Texas on September 8, 1968, to Robert and Margarita Villalpando. Robert attended Meadow High School, graduating in 1987. He attended Texas Tech University before enlisting in the United States Army. Robert proudly dedicated 14 years to military service. He also enjoyed a 23-year career with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice, retiring in 2018. Even after retirement, Robert was the hardest working man with his “get it done” attitude.
Robert married his best friend and love of his life, Rebecca Ramirez on August 24, 2019. He was an amazing husband and together they built a wonderful life. They welcomed their beloved Dalmatian and cuddle buddy Baylie to the family. Together, they enjoyed traveling, watching all sports, and drive-in movie date nights. On the weekends, Robert could be found cheering on the Red Raiders and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He had a love for music, movies, cooking, and grilling. He loved spending time with his family and friends. Whether he was cheering on his favorite teams or spending quality time with his loved ones, Robert’s lively spirit and laughter filled hearts and brought joy to those around him.
Robert was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Baldomero and Maria Villalpando and maternal grandparents Julio and Juanita Vela. His memories will be cherished by his loving wife, Rebecca Ramirez; his parents Robert and Margarita Villalpando; his sons: Nathan Villalpando and his wife Courtney of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Ashton Scitern of Lubbock, and William Tanner Villalpando of Lubbock. He is also survived by two brothers: Ruben Villalpando and his wife Ralynn of Meadow, and Fidel Villalpando of Dallas; one sister Matilde Sanchez and her husband Ignacio of Meadow; and three grandchildren: Lucille Wren Scitern, Mila Rose Scitern, and Harrison Alan Villalpando. Robert will be missed by his family, including many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loved ones.
