Robert Wayne Davis was born in Olton Texas November 3, 1933, to Clyde Powers Davis and Minnie T Davis. He graduated from Littlefield High School in 1952. After farming in Littlefield, he moved to Lubbock in 1957 to go into a lifelong career in sales. Wayne retired after a career in real estate in 2009. Also, Wayne had many interests including a wide variety of music, from old to new, pop to rock, Classic cars and was an avid student of the stock market.Wayne married Preble Lewis, the love and light of his life, on January 18, 1953. From the time he met her at the age of 14 years old, they were destined to be together forever. From that wonderful love affair came their two daughters, Claudia and Melinda Robin to whom he was a devoted father and they in turn absolutely adored him. He was always easy-going, kind, considerate, and friendly. His character made him a pleasure to be around. And in these past few years, it was not unusual for the many medical professionals he regularly saw, to fall in love with him too. Then came grandchildren, who also knew that Grandpapa would do virtually anything they wanted to please them. John Deere tractors were very close to his heart, and his many grandchildren knew the fun of riding with him on his yard size John Deere and being taken to tutors, Sonic, school, and activities of every kind. Listening, loaning a few dollars here and there, helping, advising – whatever was needed. He loved his grandchildren. And he was always there. Ready, willing, loving. He and Preble were both members of Southcrest Baptist Church. On Sunday, July 14, 2019, Wayne stepped from the bounds of his earthly life and soared into the arms of His Savior, The Lord Jesus Christ to join his precious bride. We want to thank specifically the staff at Carillon, their kindness and help – always.
