The family of Robert W. “Bob” Rawls will celebrate his life of 86 years at 11:00 AM on Monday, March 8, 2021, at the First Baptist Church. His family will host a time of fellowship and remembrance from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, Sunday, March 7, 2021, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM on Thursday, March 11, 2021, at Resthaven Memorial Park. He passed on Wednesday, March 3, 2021. He married Glenda Kay Harris on September 14, 1957, at Calvary Baptist Church in Lubbock, TX. Bob graduated high school from Lubbock High School in 1953, where he got to play on two Lubbock Westerner state champion football teams. He served in the Army in Germany for two years. After he returned, he attended Texas Tech University, where he received a bachelor’s and master’s degree in education. Bob taught math for 36 years, 34 of those at Monterey High School. While at Monterey, he also served as the athletic trainer for 14 years. After retiring from LISD, he served as a Lubbock County bailiff. Bob served as a Deacon at First Baptist Church and was a member of The Gideons.Survivors include his wife, Glenda Rawls; their children, Kathy Rawls and Randy (Susan) Rawls; grandchildren, Conner Hess, Maddie (Brenan) Ehlers, Collin (Faith) Rawls, Morgan Rawls, and Chloe Rawls.He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Ruby Coursey, Dot Shadden, Wanda Adkins, Dodie McCoy, Modelle Thurman, and Mozelle Austin; and brothers, J.M. and Donnie Rawls.
