We invite you to view the live-streamed service on this page, sign his virtual guestbook and download his memorial keepsake folder to your device for printing.On December 20, 1935, Robert Ray was born to the late Ray and Ruth (Zeckser) Watkins in Alma, KS. Bob grew up in Alma, and upon graduation from Alma High School, he entered the Army and was based primarily in Germany. He was also a member of the Army reserves for a number of years. After completing his military service, Bob attended and graduated from Kansas State University with a degree in Business Administration.During his professional career, Bob worked in automotive sales and management for several companies, including Montgomery Wards and Advance Auto. He was most proud of the 20 plus years spent working for Farmland Industries. There he began as the manager for the company’s model cooperative station in Kansas City, Mo. Eventually, he transitioned to a regional sales representative position in Nebraska. While there, Bob was awarded the Presidential Ring for the highest sales in the region. Subsequently, he was promoted to director of the automotive division, working in the company’s headquarters in Kansas City. After a move to the Lubbock area, Bob retired from Farmland.Bob was active in his church community, serving in many different capacities. He also volunteered with a rehabilitation program for female prisoners transitioning back into the community.While working in Kansas City, Bob met his future wife, Jackie. They were married in 1965 and had three children. He was most proud of his children and delighted in attending their various activities. In his later life, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and watching their activities as well.Survivors include his wife, Jackie Watkins; their children, Melinda Woolfley and husband Bernard, Brian Watkins and wife Traci, Shawn Watkins and wife Jalie; grandchildren, Charles Woolfley, Matthew Woolfley, Andrew Woolfley, Talon Watkins and wife Rochelle, Jake Watkins, Lauren Watkins, Trey Watkins, Jordis Watkins, Ian Watkins; great-grandson, Madden Watkins; a brother, Tom Watkins and wife Joyce; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
