Rita V. Muñoz

Family and friends of Rita V. Muñoz will gather to recite the rosary at 6:30 PM Friday, October 14, 2022, followed by a time of fellowship and remembrance at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers.  The celebration of her life of 87 years will be at 10:00 AM on Saturday, October 15, 2022, at Lake Ridge Chapel. On May 22, 1935, Rita was born in Pearsall, Texas to Gregoria (Salazar) Vasquez.  She was raised by her loving grandparents, Bonficio and Maria Salazar.

She married Felix H. Muñoz on February 3, 1952.  They moved to Wilson, TX, in 1953.  He worked as a farmer, and she was a housewife.  They had six children, Dolores, Philip, George, Sylvia, and the late Diane and Mary.  They raised five grandchildren, Melissa, James, Racheal, Mark, and Carlos.

She enjoyed being around family, dancing, sewing, gardening, and baking.  She loved caring for her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

She passed peacefully, surrounded by her family at home.

Rita is survived by her children, Dolores Olivarez and husband Joe, Phillip Muñoz and wife Mary Ann, George Muñoz and Sylvia Muñoz and husband Mark Caraveo; grandchildren, Melissa Lucas, Racheal M. Gonzales, Mark Muñoz, Carlos Muñoz, Lori Guerra, Vicki Bernal, Raelynn Guerra, Sonya Guerra, Raymond Guerra, Jr., Adrian Olivarez, Leticia Muñoz, Kristal Garcia, Angelica Garcia, Jaime Garcia, and Makayla Caraveo; thirty-five great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Luisa Viesca.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Felix H. Muñoz; daughters, Diane Muñoz, and Mary Guerra; grandson, James Muñoz; and a brother, Concepcion Viesca.
