Ricky Leon Napper, son of Jerry and Shirley Napper, was born January 15, 1957, in Lamesa, TX. He passed away Friday, July 20, 2018, in Englewood, CO at the Swedish Medical Center at the age of 61 years and 6 months. We will gather for fellowship and remembrance from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, July 27, 2018, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life of 61 years on Saturday, July 28, 2018, at 2 p.m. at Lake Ridge Chapel.
Ricky grew up in the rural Lamesa area and attended high school in Lamesa, TX. He was baptized and attended church at the Second Baptist Church in Lamesa. He was active in agricultural education while in high school and participated in many ag-ed activities. He enjoyed any type of outdoor activity such as golfing and fishing. He was an avid football fan and participated while in high school. Another passion he grew into was one of racing cars. Often times at night both he and his brother could be found out on a dark road with friends kicking up a lot of dirt. After graduating from high school in 1975 he continued to farm alongside his father and brother in the Lamesa and surrounding area until 2000. During this time Napper Fertilizer was established which provided a well-needed service to the community. In June 1989, he married Denise Dorman Parker and had two children, Candess and Cayla. In 2001 he left the farming industry and embarked upon launching a trucking company. This career continued until 2004 when he found the career that was exactly what he wanted to do. This was in the insurance industry, and he became a catastrophic storm adjuster for the Eberl Claim Service. With this job he could travel and see the country and make money at the same time. On June 13, 2009 in Stillwater, OK, he married Rhonda George Hays. From there they moved to Oklahoma City and lived until June 2015 where he continued to work as a catastrophic storm adjuster. In June 2015 they moved to Lubbock, TX.
Ricky enjoyed being outdoors and also doing numerous projects with his hands. He was an excellent handyman. Ricky was an active member of Live Oak Community Church and the Independent Insurance Adjusters Association.
Ricky was preceded in death by his father Jerry Fayne Napper.
Ricky will be missed by his wife, Rhonda Hays of Lubbock, TX and his children: Candess Keane and her husband, Mike of Slaton, TX; Cayla Napper of Lubbock, TX; Damon Hays and partner, Eliese Baker of Portland, OR; Trent Hays and partner, Maggie Bethke of Portland, OR; one grandson, Novelle Baker Hays of Portland, OR; mother, Shirley Ann Napper and husband, Pat Githens of Lubbock, TX; and a brother Nicky Napper and wife, Leeann of Lamesa, TX. Ricky will be missed as well by other extended family and friends.
There will be a meet and greet after the committal service. It will be held at the Texas Farm Bureau Insurance, 1602 Lubbock Hwy, Lamesa, TX 79331.
