Ricardo (Rick) Rangel Contreras, 61, of Lubbock left this world to enter his forever home with Jesus on November 17, 2021. He was born July 23, 1960, to Teodoro and Maria Contreras. He honorably served his country as a member of the United States Air Force and worked for the BNSF Railway for 36 years. Rick and his wife Jody (Hill) Contreras, married May 27th, 1989 and their life together brought about a beautifully blended family of 5 children and 11 grandchildren. He was an incredibly hard worker and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. Rick embodied the word hospitality, always opening his home to serve others and he did it with a smile and a happy heart. He was loved by everyone who knew him! Rick loved cooking, being outdoors, gardening, and working on his yard or his truck. He could always be counted on to make people laugh, and his big boisterous laughter was unmistakable and unforgettable! Rick was a one-of-a-kind, gentle, and sweet-spirited man with a servant’s heart, and he will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Those left to cherish Rick’s memory are his wife, Jody, his children: Stephanie (Brian) Davis, Richard Contreras, Ashley (Brett) Bulber, Kassandra (Cory) Jones, and Ricky (Allyson) Contreras; his mother Maria Contreras; 5 sisters and 2 brothers; 11 grandchildren.

Rick was preceded in death by his father, Teodoro Contreras, and his sisters Rosalinda Contreras and Evangelina Herrera.

The family of Rick Contreras will celebrate his life of 61 years at 10:00 AM on Friday, December 3, 2021, at Lake Ridge Chapel. His family will host a time of fellowship and remembrance from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Thursday, December 02, 2021, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. We invite you to view the live-streamed service on this page, sign his virtual guestbook, and download his memorial keepsake folder to your device for printing. We also ask that you consider viewing his Life Tribute, a video of photographs set to his favorite music.

In lieu of plants/flowers, the family requests poinsettias or wrapped children’s gifts to be donated to Toys for Tots as a way to celebrate Rick’s life and his love of giving.
