Obituary

The family of Richard Gale Ray will celebrate his life of 89 years at 1:00 pm on Saturday, April 16th, 2022, at Lakeridge Chapel. He passed from this world into the loving arms of Jesus on Thursday, April 7th. He was welcomed to heaven by his parents Buck and Leta Ray, stepmother Bernice Ray and his beautiful granddaughter Courtney Layne Ray. Richard had been in poor health for several years and longed for heaven even longer than that.

Richard was born to E. T. (Buck) and Leta Dodd Ray on February 9th, 1933, in Belton, Texas. He married Billie Ruth Willis on December 19, 1952. They had three children: Kathi, DeeAnn, and Michael. Richard was a man of strong faith, honesty, hard work, and commitment. He loved to sing, camp in the beautiful mountains of New Mexico, and travel. Some of his favorite memories were of trips taken to England, cruises to Hawaii with his children, and special vacations that he and Billie Ruth took with each of their grandchildren. He and Billie Ruth were long-standing members of the Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife of 69 years Billie Ruth, their children Kathi and Barry Barreras of Roswell, NM, DeeAnn and Walter Kopriva of Little Elm, Tx & Michael and Lucinda Ray of Guymon, Oklahoma; grandchildren Dale and Heather Kuykendall of Colorado Springs, Colo, Jericho and Shannon Knuckles of Berwyn, Ill, Abbye Kopriva of Little Elm, Tx, Zach and Lindsey Kopriva of Lubbock, Tx, Kelsey Ray of Pagosa Springs, Colo, Cameron Ray of Brookfield, Colo, and Kerrick Ray of Stillwater, Ok; great-grandchildren Justin Kuykendall, Brynn Kuykendall, and Beckett Denise Kopriva.

We invite you to view the live-streamed service on this page and sign his virtual guestbook. We will ask that you consider his Life Tribute, a video of photographs set to some of his favorite music
