The family of Rick Waters will celebrate his life of 64 years at 2:00 PM on Thursday, October 7, 2021, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. He passed peacefully with family by his side on Sunday, October 3, 2021. We invite you to view the live-streamed service on this page, sign his virtual guestbook, and download his memorial keepsake folder to your device for printing. On February 2, 1957, Rick was born to Richard and Letty Waters in Fort Worth, Texas. He married Kay Crawford on March 18, 1978, in Lubbock. He graduated from Texas Tech University in 1979 with a BBA in Finance. He then had a few odd jobs before settling at W&W Steel for the next 39 years. He loved Oklahoma Sooner Football and attended many bowl games with his brother and son.Overflowing with life, Rick was a loving husband and a wonderful father and grandfather. He was a devout weightlifter and an avid reader. Forever a seeker of truth and knowledge, he could always be found in his study with a stack of books nearby. Passing his love of wisdom onto those around him, he was ever-ready for a deep conversation. If you brought with you a nice bottle of scotch and a cigar, even better.Fall was his favorite season. He reveled in the decor, the crispness of the air, and the retreat of the sun. He most enjoyed spending October at Disneyworld with his family. He loved all the pumpkins and the Food and Wine Festival, but Germany was his favorite. Here he would toast “to life” with a shot and then head into the beer garden for a stout German beer. So, when the leaves begin to fall, and you begin to hear the blue jays call, grab a hearty Oktoberfest, hold it up high, and say, “To life!” and know that he will be smiling infinite love down upon you.Survivors include his mother Letty Waters; his wife, Kay Waters; their children, Stephanie (Brian) Beck, Jarod (Rachael) Waters, Lindsey (RJ Stalcup) Waters; grandchildren, Mia Harland, Everett Waters, Benson Beck; siblings, Tim (Janet) Waters, Tricia Blair; parents-in-law Jerry and Martha Crawford; brother-in-law Jack Crawford; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Kenny Blair, and his father, Richard Waters.
