The family of Reuby Tom Maeker will celebrate her life of 98 years with a graveside service at 1:00 pm on Thursday, October 22, 2020, at Resthaven Memorial Park Cemetery. In support of her family’s health, face coverings are mandatory while attending the service. You are encouraged to sign the virtual guestbook and share memories and expressions of sympathy on this page.Reuby Tom Maeker was born on December 4, 1921, in Westport, Mississippi, the only child of Tom Rhodes and Reuby Spurlock Rhodes. She married Arnold Maeker on August 29, 1948, in Lubbock, Texas.She attended Lubbock schools and graduated from Lubbock High School and received a BS and MS in Food and Nutrition from Texas Tech University. She was a Registered Dietitian and a member of the American, Texas, and Lubbock Dietetic Association. She was the Dietitian for St. Mary of the Plains Hospital.She was also a member of First Baptist Church ( Choir, Sunday School Director), the West Texas Museum Association, Garden Club, Dean’s Advisory Council- College of Home Economics Texas Tech, Grants Committee- Cultural Affairs Council of the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce, Texas Tech Museum Ranching-Heritage Association, Trustee of West Texas Museum Association, Symphony Guild, Kappa Kappa Gamma Alumni Texas Tech Association and University City Club.She served as Past Chairman/President of the Women’s Division-Chamber of Commerce, Lubbock Christian Women’s Club, the Texas Tech Dean’s Advisory Council for Development in the College of Home Economics, Lubbock Arts Festival 1983, the Women’s Division of the United Way, The Well Baby Clinic, Junior League of Lubbock, Women’s Missionary Union, Buckner West Texas Endowment Program and The Women’s Consul of the West Texas Museum Association.She served on the Steering Committee of Committees -Lubbock Chamber of Commerce, Architectural Planning Committee of the West Texas Museum Association, County Service for the Blind, The Lubbock Women’s Club, Texas Tech Ex-Students Association, and The District Board of the PTA. She also served on the Church Council at First Baptist Church.She was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Maeker, and parents, Tom and Reuby Rhodes.Survivors include Pat Linnartz and her husband, Gil, three Granddaughters Jessica Harris Miller, Mary Harris Nayar, both of Austin and Dr. Emily Adhikari of Irving and their mother, Dr. Sharon Anderson Harris of Carrollton.The family would like to thank Linda Beiver for her years of loving help, and caring for Reuby Tom.
