Regina L. Sires passed away on September 6, 2019. A time of fellowship and remembrance is scheduled from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm on Monday, September 9, 2019, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. Family and friends will gather to celebrate her life of 53 years at 10:00 am on Tuesday, September 10, 2019, at Lake Ridge Chapel. Sires’s life tribute at www.memorialdesigners.net.Regina was born on June 11, 1966 in Lubbock, TX, to Mervin and Barbara (Jernigan) Gross. She spent most of her childhood moving from town to town between Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico, before finally coming back to settle in Lubbock. She loved spending time with her Nana and Papa, as well as her older brother Randy. At 13, Gina was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes, a battle that she continued to fight until her passing.Regina graduated from Smyer High School in 1984. From there she went on to work at Cramin Forster as an insurance receptionist. Upon the business’s closing, she worked accounts receivable at Mistletoe Tex-Pac shipping until 1999, when she lost her eyesight. Regina became a homemaker for the remainder of her life.Regina’s greatest passions in life were for her daughter, Robyn, and her dogs. She also loved going to Caprock Canyon State Park to fish and watch the bison, a love that she passed down to her daughter. Before the loss of her eyesight, she was a ceramic painter, a hobby she used to enjoy with her father and grandmother. Regina especially loved her Pekingese dogs; she is survived by one of her favorites, Checkers. Finally, Regina was a lifelong gardener; she always loved working the land next to her mother and Nana.Regina is proceeded in death by both her paternal and maternal grandparents.Survivors include her daughter, Robyn Simonds and husband Kerry of Lubbock; her parents, Mervin and Barbara Gross of Wolfforth; her brother, Randall Lynn Gross and wife Joan of Wolfforth; nieces, Anna Sandlin and husband Josh of Wolfforth and Jessica Brooks and husband Jody of Ropesville; as well as four great-nieces. She is also survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.The family of Regina L. Sires would like to thank Comfort Keepers and Texas Home Health for being a comfort in Regina’s last days. They would also like show gratitude towards her doctors for all the love and care they gave to Regina.
