Reed was born on December 8, 1924, in O’Donnell, TX. He exemplified the qualities of a Christian and lifelong Texan. Dad proudly served in the United States Army during World War II, and encouraged his sons to serve and protect this great country. Dad loved to travel in his travel trailer with Nell. For over twenty-five years, they traveled from coast to coast, border to border, and visited two foreign countries. He always had a vegetable garden. Dad was a remarkable loving father, friend, and family leader. He has friends all over the United States, as he never met a stranger. We have many fond memories from childhood, like when he and Aunt Ruth would talk about Bobby Dan Blocker (Hoss Cartwright), and church socials where we ate fresh cantaloupe filled with homemade ice cream. Dad truly spent 91 years on this earth smiling, laughing and eating, talking to anyone and everyone that would talk to him; sometimes it might have even been a fence post. Survivors include his three sons and their wives, Don and Linda of Lubbock, Ronnie and Laura (deceased) of Ashland, VA, and Kevin and Janie of Mt Vernon, TX; long-time friend, Nell Kilpatrick; sister, Ruth Havens; 10 grandchildren, Donnie Yandell, Tim Yandell, Brandy Smith, Eddie Chase, Coby Gardner, Reed Yandell, Rebecca Yandell, Shylia, Matt, and Chelsa; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. We will forever miss Dad, with his hour-long phone calls, and the happiness he shared with the world. Dad have fun in Heaven.
