Rebecca Lyanne Braus was born September 2, 1982, to Jorge and Berta (Diaz) Cruz in Miami, FL. She married Ryan Braus on August 3, 2007, in Miami, Florida. They moved to Lubbock, Texas in the summer of 2008. Rebecca became a massage therapist, while she and Ryan started their family. During this time she gave birth to three amazing kids.
Rebecca was a very loving mother who was present and active in the lives of her children. She’d bake sweets for all of their functions. Rebecca loved to participate in every function like ballet, dancing, gymnastics, swimming lessons, and baseball. Rebecca loved to travel especially when she was able to see her family at the beach in Sarasota, and loved visiting her friends when she could.
In October of 2022, she was diagnosed with a rare type of Osteosarcoma. Rebecca fought her disease fiercely. She routinely surprised her nurses with how tough she was. Rebecca was feisty, authentic, and strong-willed, but she was also generous, kind, compassionate, and loving.
Rebecca is survived by her husband, Ryan Braus; children, Ethan Charles Braus, Mia Lyanne Braus, and Lilly Rose Braus; father, Jorge Cruz; mother, Berta Cruz; and brothers, Gabriel (Patty) Cruz and Nathaniel Cruz. She was preceded in death by her Grandmother Maria Luisa Diaz and Grandfather Ernesto Diaz.
Rebecca’s family suggests memorial contributions to Compassion International or Grace Campus in her memory.
